Integrating Assessment with Instruction

Formative assessment is the key to learner performance and long-term retention. A 4MAT lesson is by nature a process of growth for all learners. 

• At the outset of instruction, are learners engaged and fascinated?
• Do they see the big picture?
• To what degree are they acquiring the expert knowledge of the lesson?
• To what degree are they acquiring the necessary skills that will lead to fluency?
• And are they able to integrate with material in a way that will lead to something new in the world, nased on the combination of the learner and the thing learned?
